Meet Patricia Kaufman, PhD, LDN, CNS, MBA
Hi, I’m Dr. Patricia Kaufman, practicing functional nutrition as a licensed nutritionist (LDN), a faculty member at three universities, and a certified nutrition specialist (CNS) supervisor. In addition to being a CNS, I’m a certified sports nutritionist and a member of the American Diabetes Association and American Nutrition Association. I’m on a mission to empower individuals to optimize their health and prevent disease with a personalized nutrition and lifestyle approach.
I understand that no ‘one plan’ works for everyone because of our different nutritional needs, biochemistry, genetics, and lifestyles. I believe in focusing on an integrated holistic approach by uncovering the underlying causes that can trigger health conditions, especially autoimmune disorders, hormonal dysregulations, and impaired gut health.
Want to know more about me?
I have a Ph.D. in Health and Performance from Concordia University and received a Master's in Nutrition and Functional Medicine from the University of Western States and a Bachelor of Science and MBA from Marquette University. By combining my knowledge and expertise in nutrition, wellness, and fitness, I enjoy working with clients to orchestrate and live their healthiest lives. I stay educated and updated on nutritional and performance topics through continuing education programs, including the gut microbiome, energy efficiencies, thyroid function, Type 2 Diabetes, adrenal fatigue, detoxification, and endocrine disrupters.
As a faculty member in the doctorate program at the American College of Health Sciences and the graduate programs at Sonoran University and the National University of Naturopathic Medicine (NUNM), I teach various functional nutrition courses, food politics, GI in health and disease, immune system, and insecurity, informed evidence research, and sports nutrition.
As a researcher, I’m writing several articles on the gut microbiome, type 2 diabetes, and therapeutic diets for various conditions.
As for fun, I enjoy running. I’ve completed numerous endurance events, including four Ironmans, over 20 marathons (6 Boston Marathons and 6 Abbott Majors), DPR 50-mile trail run, and (3) 50k North Face trail runs. I know firsthand the importance of nutrition and its role in athletic performance and overall health.
I’m active in my community. I volunteer as a nutritional educator at The Fit and Food Connection, participate in my church's Harvest Kitchen program, which feeds hundreds of homeless individuals, and volunteer my nutritional services to those in need. I have also worked with high school athletes on performance nutrition and grade-school girls on achieving a healthier body image.
I couldn’t do any of this without the support of my loving husband, children, and furry friends.
